Future Presidents
In 1957 a picture was taken showing a few important members. Future president Ronald Reagan, Glenn Seaborg and another future president Richard Nixon had their faces towards the camera. Many enthusiasts believe that presidential elections are pre-decided and candidates are chosen based on their actions during the Summer traditions. Glenn Seaborg (middle) was the man in charge of the plutonium work during the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan Project was in charge of designing the Atomic Bomb. The project idea and planning was executed in 1942 at the Bohemian Grove.
Attaining Membership
The Grove's membership committee acts as the gatekeeper of the Bohemian Club. One can gain their membership by invitation only. New members are always nominated by at least two prior members who will vouch for his character and describe the qualities that will make him a good addition to the club. The new potential member must fill out a membership application form granted from within. The form requests the usual information necessary on any application. The club also asks for business or professional connections, other club memberships, and names of five people in the club who know him well. The eager candidate then returns this application to his first sponsor. They will then fill in information on the candidate’s skills and talents. This sponsor also is required to provide the names of three members of the club who know that he is well acquainted with the applicant. Then the second sponsor repeats the same process. These steps mandated by the committee to insure trustworthiness in the potential member. The prospect is then required to personally meet with the eleven members of the club's committee. They lecture him on what is required to be a good member and what he is required to do during his stay. If nine out of the eleven members approve of the candidate he is accepted into the Bohemian Grove. People of extreme power like presidents and other political figures are granted in at a much faster rate.
